The Story
The Story
The name Mai Tai is based on a Tahitian word maitaʻi which in colloquially means "very good." A more literal translation of the maitaʻi means "out of this world."
This was one of the main inspiration for this piece. The official label for this canned cocktail features an astronaut, but I decided to go with a more cosmic spiritual vibe. I used the technique I did from my Astrological Placements series, where the shadows have nebula patterns and the feature have a glow surrounding them.

OUR STORY
Abbott and Wallace Distilling is a whiskey and rum distillery redefining what handcrafted can mean. Like the Longmont community itself, “handcrafted” means something different here. Owner-built equipment, locally sourced ingredients, and transparent processing blends with our values of community and family for one-of-a-kind spirits and cocktails. Longtucky is a celebration of Longmont’s rich agricultural history and artisan community. It’s our home and the community that helped create our dreams.
We are slowly and deliberately shifting our name from Longtucky Spirits to Abbott and Wallace. We are making this shift because Abbott and Wallace represents our past and our future while maintaining our family and human roots.
When you decide to honor your family with their names on your company, there comes a certain responsibility to their spirits. We owe it to them, our community and ourselves to make sure what’s behind the label honors as much as what’s printed on it.

About the Artist
The only thing I enjoy more than eating Colorado food culture is drawing it.
I'm M. J. Star. I moved to Colorado in 2019 and have been drawing digitally for almost 2 decades. In early 2022, I started drawing art that depicts Colorado's rich food and drink culture. I've been traveling the state going to various breweries, wineries, cideries, bars, and restaurants. I try their food and drinks, and transform all of that into art that celebrates Colorado's blossoming local food culture.
My shop features all original art work draw on my mobile tablet.
